Why do we not recognise that the partner has aggression issues, possessiveness, control, and manipulative signs.

Important to mention that when we talk about domestic violence, we do not assume that the abuser is a male figure. Maybe for some, it would be hard to accept that women can have the same qualities and can be very cruel to their male or female partners. Actually, important to emphasize that here I am going to research relationships between men and women due to my own experience.

Okay, once you have noticed that your other half is toxic, what are you going to do? Leave immediately? No way. It is a very rare case scenario. So, why not leave an abusive relationship?

The human brain is a strange organism. Love will blind us like goggles, which make us not see through the happy mist, all the negativity in our lives.

What is love? It creates irrational patterns such as:

You actually love your partner

You hope that behaviour will change

You might feel responsible for the mental condition of your partners

Shame. Yes, it is embarrassing to explain to your family and friends what is going on.

There could be dozens of other reasons not to escape the hell.

Manipulative, toxic partners make you feel guilty for their actions. Like it is again your fault, you could just act a bit differently, and nothing bad could have happened. And you believe it. Please do not blame yourself, you are not stupid or blind, it is exactly how it works. It is a swamp. It holds you. And there are very beautiful moments that happen after the toxic, dramatic, and traumatic episodes. Honeymoon. Tyrant has to make you sure that he is very sorry about the prior situation, promises that it will never happen again, buys you flowers and other stuff, and is kind and gentle. And you fall for it. Over and over again, and you believe your partner that it was the last shit that had happened. Guess what? Bullshit!

That’s why it could take a very long time to vanish yourself from that. You are not alone. There are many of us.

Continues with “Methods of Manipulation”

When you realize that you are living with an abuser, it might be too late to prevent your emotional and even physical damage.
